I love stories and I always have, although I am very dyslexic, which I think is a great cosmic joke. From childhood I was always thinking up adventures and mysteries but my school life was marred by being told I was “stupid” because of my terrible spelling and grammar, which made me think I couldn't write. It wasn't until I was eighteen that I first heard about dyslexia, read the symptoms and realized then that I had it and that this explained a lot. Even so I still believed I was unable to write…
I was nagged by a story I had in my head for a Star Trek novel, an idea for Kirk and his crew, but I did nothing about it for quite a while. But the idea nagged at me so much that I decided to give it a go, although I didn't believe for one moment that I'd ever complete it - surely after a page or two I would run out of steam. But that didn't happen and eight weeks later I had finished it. Amazing!
I work with pen and paper as my brain just goes blank if I look at a screen. Then I have to type it all up, which can be a very slow process although I am a bit quicker now.
After that first novel I wrote another and another and now I don't like it if I haven't got a project on the go. I have written books for children, short stories, a Science Fiction novel for teens and many adult SF and contemporary books. There is one common theme to them all, which is an element of spirituality (not religion), be that healing or learning about our true selves.
I have spent many frustrating years trying to get my books accepted by agents and publishers but they either say there’s too much editing needed or they just don't know where to pitch my novels as they are so different to other books. I have even been accused of being “too original”! It was so hard to get a break into publishing that, with the help of my nephew Scott, I published one novel ‘Trust Me’ on Kindle. Then I approached the independent publishers Local Legend with ‘Day Trips to Heaven’ and the owner agreed to edit and publish it. I now have two novels published by them. The second is "Karma Neutral" and go to my news page to find out more details.
I love to write and I hope you will enjoy reading my work.
